Exeter
a learning community

You are here:

Our Academy

A very warm welcome to Exeter a learning community. We are a 2 to 11 academy located close to the centre of Corby in Northamptonshire.

We opened as a new school in 2006 following the amalgamation of the infant and junior schools and we became a sponsored academy on January 1st 2013 when we joined the Woodnewton Academy Trust.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to tell you about our Academy which includes a Children's Centre designed to improve the lives of children, parents, families and community members and full access to the Early Years Foundation Stage and Primary Curriculum for children aged 2 to 11.

In recent years, the Academy has undergone some difficulties, however in November 2014, Ofsted recognised that, 'The school is well led' with 'raised standards, rates of progress and teaching quality.' Ofsted described us as an 'improving school with pupils who behave well.' In April 2015 HMI said, 'Senior leaders, governors and the sponsor are taking effective action to tackle the areas requiring improvement.'

In December 2013, Ofsted judged the provision for two year olds as good and commented on ‘the excellent teaching'.

In July 2014 we were awarded 'Thinking School' accreditation by the University of Exeter.

We believe that all children are entitled to a world class education that will equip them to become fully participatory members of society. Therefore, we aim to ensure that our children have access to high quality learning experiences, where emotional well-being, academic achievement, physical development. High expectations are placed firmly at the centre of all we do.
