Geography is covered as part of our topics which reflect the requirements of the new primary national curriculum. Each year group follows geography themes within each topic, which are based on the Geography programme of study.
Early in the school the focus is on local areas using map work and physical features then moving on to the further study of continents and comparisons of Corby and another contrasting area. In Key Stage two the knowledge of the world expands through Europe, into the Americas and beyond. Children have to chance to understand settlements, natural resources of the world and the water cycle, discussing their effects on the population and our effect on the environment.
As part of Geography we aim to develop the children's skills and understanding of how we learn about our world. We look at questioning, collecting and recording evidence. We carry out research, analyse information about our findings, use maps and plans and make decisions.
